the art of islamic calligraphy

Mmmm…agnificent. I come from an Islāmic background, and have always felt fascinated by the intricate calligraphy forming into beautiful shapes.

In fact, I have actually seen an extremely political use of such a methodology, which starts of as calligraphy of the name of Muhammad, gradually overlaying the writing to form a profile shape resembling that of a person. The question then posed goes: “At what stage has the drawing become offensive to muslims?”
